PAGEFILE is nothing but a space on your hard disk used by the operating system for doing its work. It can be called as VIRUTAL RAM of your pc. When you load any application then it is decided by the O.S. whether to load it in RAM or PAGEFILE. So if you have less RAM then we can tweak the PAGEFILE SIZE and improve the performance of your PC. Here at T4L we’ll teach you how to increase the size of the PAGEFILE and boost up your PC performance.
We are doing this demonstration on windows XP but we’ll let u know the procedure of Windows Vista and 7.
STEP 1:
RIGHT CLICK on the MY COMPUTER icon and CLICK on PROPERTIES.
In Windows Vista & 7 do the same
CLICK 2:
The PROPERTIES window will appear.
Go on the ADVANCED TAB.
STEP 3:
Under the PERFORMANCE title CLICK on SETTINGS button.
PERFORMANCE OPTION window will appear.
STEP 4:
Inside the ‘Performance Options’ window click on the ADVANCED TAB
STEP 5 : Now under the tab you will see the ‘Virtual Memory’ title under which you will be able to see the ‘CHANGE’ button. CLICK on the CHANGE button. The ‘Virtual Memory’ window will appear where u can change the size of the PAGEFILE according to your choice or you can set it to automatic mode or you can delete the PAGEFILE.
NOTE: It is not recommended to DELETE the PAGEFILE if you have RAM less than 4 GB because PAGEFILE reduce the LOAD on the RAM and the Performance is improved. You can delete it if you have more than 4 GB ram and you don’t use high end applications.
